Knave Bar & Cafe
Le Parker Meridien,
119 West 56th Street, New York NY 10019
This was my hands-down favourite place to enjoy a cup of coffee in Manhattan for two reasons: The decadent ambiance and the actual coffee.
Upon entering this establishment you walk amongst the rich dark wooden replica antique furniture, red velvet plush couches and arm chairs. Together with the dim lighting emitted by the modern chandeliers and tea light candles, this combination immediately creates a rich yet relaxing atmosphere. Sensing this was a place to sit, sip and savour, I ordered a cappuccino. All the staff were well presented, well mannered and amiable Gen Y’s (there were four of them), each an experienced barista who took pride in their work, and it showed in the cup of coffee I enjoyed as well as their own knowledge of coffee.
The actual coffee (made from Counter Culture coffee beans) was hot with a good amount of crème at the top and made from palatable well-balanced earthy flavoured beans. A delightful ‘free pour’, the love heart pattern that adorned my cappuccino was indicative of the care, love and respect for coffee the baristas spruiked.
Also served with a little shortbread cookie.
This is highly recommended for coffee snobs who enjoy a really terrific and exceptional coffee.
